When you call to
book your first driving lesson with 1 Way Driving School,
our friendly office staff will be on hand to make all the
necessary arrangements.
If you would prefer to learn with a male or female instructor
or wish to learn in a particular car just let us know your
requirements when booking.
Your on road lessons will be structured to meet your individual
needs, and your progress will be recorded by your instructor
during each lesson. We use specially designed progress records
which cover the full DSA syllabus for learning to drive. Your
instructor will work through the various stages with you, until
you are driving independently and ready to take your test.
Before booking your driving test it would probably be a
good idea to take a mock driving test with one of our other
instructors, just to see how you would cope driving with
a different person next to you.
Your instructor will be able to advise you when to book
your test and can even arrange for our office staff to book
it for you.
Our
instructors use the following 4 test centres:
Colwick
Chalfont
Drive
Loughborough
Grantham
Attending the test.
On the big day, your instructor will normally pick you up
about an hour before your driving test, just to get you warmed
up and cover any last minute things that you may be concerned
about.
You should arrive at the test centre in good time and have
your provisional licence and theory test certificate with
you. You must also have some form of photo identification
if you don't have a photo card licence. Remember...... the
new photo licence is made up of 2 parts, Photo Card and paper
counterpart; you must bring BOTH parts when attending the
test or you will not be allowed to take the test.
You will sit in the waiting room until the examiner comes
out and calls your name. The examiner will check all of your
documents and ask you to lead the way out to the vehicle.
If you would like your instructor to accompany you on the
test, you should tell the examiner on the way out to the
car.
Before entering the car you will be asked to read a vehicle
registration plate from approx 67ft/20.5m, and you will be
asked 2 vehicle safety check questions.
Once in the car the examiner will give you instructions on
what he/she requires you to do during the test.
The test will last approx 40 minutes and you will be tested
on your driving ability. There are a large number of test
routes at each test centre, which all cover various types
of junctions and varying road conditions. During the test
you will be asked to carry out 2 manoeuvres and you may also
be asked to carry out an emergency stop.
At the end of the test the examiner will give you the result
and offer you a briefing on the test. You may want your instructor
present during the briefing.
